B-Line is a planned Australian bus rapid transit network on Sydney's Northern Beaches that is scheduled to commence operating in late 2017.
History
In November 2015, Transport for New South Wales announced the construction of a 27 kilometre bus rapid transit network between Newport on the Northern Beaches and the Sydney central business district. It is scheduled to open in late 2017 and be operated by double deck buses.[1][2]
Services will stop at nine B-Line stops at Mona Vale, Warriewood, Narrabeen, Collaroy, Dee Why, Brookvale, Manly Vale, Spit Junction and Neutral Bay with commuter car parks to be built at Mona Vale, Warriewood, Narrabeen, Dee Why, Brookvale and Manly Vale.[1][2]
The B-Line will be operated by State Transit's Mona Vale depot as part of Region 8 with a fleet of 38 Gemilang Coachworks bodied MAN A95s.[3] As part of its introduction there will be a restructure of other routes in the region.[4]
Bus network changes
The new Northern Beaches service plan, supporting the new B-Line service, also introduce two key new bus routes to the region:
- New route 199 will run between Palm Beach, Avalon and Manly to connect with B-Line services between Newport and Brookvale.
- New route E54 will run between Mona Vale and Milsons Point via North Sydney, providing frequent services during weekday peak periods.
Many of the current bus routes between Newport and the city will be abolished.
