Azra Fazal Pechuho (Urdu: عذرا فضل پیچوہو; born 21 February 1953) is a politician and physician who is currently a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, belonging to the Pakistan Peoples Party.

Early life

She was born on 21 February 1953.[1]

Political career

Pechuho was elected as a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan for the first time on Pakistan Peoples Party ticket in Pakistani general election, 2002.[2][3]

She was not a popular politician until the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in 2007.[2] After the assassination, she became the chancellor of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology.[2]

In 2006, her car was attacked in Nawabshah during a by-election by Altaf Hussain Unar who was arrested later.[2]

Pechuho was re-elected as a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan for the second time in Pakistani general election, 2008 from NA-213 (Nawabshah).[4][3]

Pechuho was re-elected as a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan for the third time in Pakistani general election, 2013[3] from NA-213 (Nawabshah).[5]

Personal life

Pechuho is a younger sister of former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari.[3][2]

She is a physician by profession.[2]
