Azaadi آزادی; meaning "Independence") is a 2017 Pakistani Action-epic, Romantic Drama Film based on issue of freedom of Jammu and Kashmir. The Film is written and directed by Imran Malik, and it is produced by Imran's brother Irfan Malik.[1][2] The film will be distributed by ARY Films on Pakistan Independence Day, August 14, 2017.[3]

Plot

Azaadi tells the story of a man who sacrifices it all for the freedom of Kashmir and how his vision is carried forward by young people he inspires.

Casting

Danish Taimoor was originally cast opposite lead female Sonya Hussain, as the lead male character of the film. But due to the fallout with the makers of the film he was later replaced by Moammar.[4][5] Pakistani television actress Sonya Hussayn, plays the lead female role of an Pakistani-origin British journalist.[6]

Development

In an Interview with Images of Dawn News director Imran highlighted that a film of such a big canvas has never been attempted before in Pakistan, and that the film had elements of patriotism, action scenes and a very powerful love story.[7] The cinematography has been done by Ben Jasper known for his work on the 2014 Bollywood film Bang Bang!. The music of the film has been done by Sahir Ali Bagga and Singers Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Quratulain Baloch and Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan have lent their voices for the tracks in the film.[8]

Filming

The film has been shot in Azad Kashmir and Northern areas of Pakistan.[9]

Release

Azaadi team will release the movie on Pakistan Independence Day August 14.
