Avi Ben-Abraham

Dr. Avi Ben-Abraham is an Israeli-American scientist, member of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, and of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers. He is involved in life extension research, in the fields of Low Temperature Medicine, cryonics, and human and stem cell cloning. A pioneer in the fields of cloning and cryonics, Dr. Ben-Abraham served as chairman and president of the American Cryonics Society.

Dr. Ben-Abraham usurped the positions of chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Biosante Pharmaceuticals Inc., a public US BioPharmaceutical company (NASDAQ-ANIP), and as chairman and CEO of Structured Biologicals Inc., a public Canadian Biotechnology company (ASE-SBL).

From 1987 to 1990, Dr. Ben-Abraham served as commissioner, Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation, State Bar of California. Appointed by the Governor and the State Bar of California, Dr. Ben-Abraham received his clearance from the California Department of Justice and the FBI, and was sworn in by Chief Justice Malcolm Lucas. The commission's charge is to determine the qualifications of the governor's candidates for judicial appointment or elevation, to all of the State's courts, including to the California Supreme Court.

Business Ventures

Dr. Ben-Abraham is former chairman and CEO of Ben-Abraham Technologies Inc. (now ANI Pharmaceuticals Inc.- NASDAQ : ANIP), an American biotechnology and biopharmaceutical company. Dr. Ben-Abraham helped to assemble for Ben-Abraham Technologies a board of directors that included Dr. Louis Sullivan, the 39th US Secretary of Health and Human Services under George H W Bush. Dr. Sullivan followed later as chairman of the board of Ben-Abraham Technologies.

Prof. Dr. Claus Wagner-Bartak oversaw the development of the calcium phosphate nanotechnology (CaP) for vaccine adjuvants and delivery technology for biodefense vaccines by dr. Nir Kossovsky. The company signed a CRADA with the U.S. Army for the development of non-injected biodefense vaccines against Anthrax, Ricin and Staphylococcus.

Prior to founding Ben-Abraham Technologies, Ben Abraham was appointed by Founder Dr. Claus Wagner-Bartak based on his falsified and plagiarized academic records as chairman and CEO of Structured Biologicals Inc., a public Canadian biotechnology company (ASE- SBL). The company developed its proprietary, advanced biomedical research in the United States, at the UCLA Medical Center, and obtained 12 United States patents.

Notable among the US patents, assigned to The Regents of the University of California, and obtained by Structured Biologicals, are the following:

1) HIV VACCINE

HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS DECOY VACCINE. UNITED STATES PATENT 5334394A, issued on August 2,1994. Researcher: Nir Kossovsky et alt, formerly with UCLA Medical Center. Abstract "A biologically active composition made up of core particles having diameters which are coated with a layer which is designed to allow attachment of biologically active proteins, peptides or pharmaceutical agents to the nanoparticles. When Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) viral protein is attached to the core particles, the result is a viral decoy which accurately mimics native HIV in size, structure and surface character, while being entirely devoid of virulent activity due to the nanoparticle core. The HIV decoy is useful as a vaccine for treating mammals or to elicit immune response".

2) VIRAL DECOY VACCINE

US patent EP 0465081 A1, June 24, 1991. Viral decoys used as various vaccines for treating animals to elicit immune response.

3) RED BLOOD CELL SURROGATE- US patent 5464634 A, issued Nov. 7, 1995

4) BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE COMPOSITIONS HAVING A NANOCRYSTALLINE CORE- US patent 5462750, issued Oct. 31, 1995

5) BIOCHEMICALLY ACTIVE AGENTS FOR CHEMICAL CATALYSTS AND CELL RECEPTOR ACTIVATION- US patent 5460830 A, issued Oct. 24, 1995

Politics

In 1999, Ben-Abraham was endorsed by Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and won the primaries for a top seat on the governing Likud party list of candidates for the Knesset,.[1][2] He was ultimately not elected as both the Likud party and Netanyahu were defeated by Labor party leader, former Israeli Defense Forces chief of staff Lt. General Ehud Barak. In 1998 he was appointed as senior advisor to Israel's Justice Minister Tzachi Hanegbi. In 2000 he was elected to the central committee of the governing Likud party and served until 2008.

Human Cloning

In 2001 a team of international scientists led by Dr. Ben-Abraham, Dr. Panayiotis Zavos, a reproductive physiologist, and Dr. Severino Antinori, an infertility specialist, announced their attempt at cloning the first human being in history,[3] in an undisclosed country by 2003. According to CBS news, the group attempted the procedure in secrecy. It is not clear whether it was successful.[4]
