Avenida Andrade Corvo is one of the important avenues in Praia, Santiago island, Cape Verde and the Plateau of Praia. It runs north to south (much of it) with a 15 degree angle towards the west, it starts with the University of Cape Verde's rectory building in the middle. It is 500 meters long and much of it features a middle island. Much of the avenue has parking lot space.

The avenue starts in the north at Rua Dr. António Loreno, west is Praça António Loreno (or Lereno) which used to be Praça Luis de Camões which was named after the Portuguese great at the time, he visited Cape Verde once, one of a few names still named after a Portuguese figure today. It has intersections with lesser streets including António Nunes (named after a writer), Pereira Sampaio, a pathway, Rua Patrice Lumumba (formerly Saldanha Lobo), Rua Júlio de Abreu, Fontes P. de Melo and General Barros next to the barracks museum and intersects with a single street at a curve curving at a 75 degree angle with Rua Pedro Álvares Cabral, named after an explorer who explored Brazil in 1500. In the northern part, it also intersects with Rua Cândido dos Reis with the northbound lane and the southbound lane exits from Rua Miguel Bombarda.

The highest point is 32 to 34 meters for the most of the length, it heads a bit downward north of Rua General Barros to the terminus where the lowest point is 21 meters above sea level.

Its buildings on the avenue dates from the colonial era and features examples of colonial architecture. Some buildings were rebuilt and features modern architecture, one portion on the west side between António Nunes and Tenente Valdim Streets features eight colorful buildings.

Kaza Txan are some restaurants located on the avenue along with Platô both on the east side, also Pao Quente is located. A telecommunications store Infotel is located on the avenue in the west side. The Belgian and the Dutch embassies are located next to the avenue.

Famous landmarks include Quartel Jaime Mota located at the southernmost part, first built for using as a defense from pirate attacks up to the mid 19th century.[1] An old Soviet tank is in the barrack area next to the avenue.

Several buildings bounded by the avenue but not located is the Capeveredan Justice Palace located on Rua Serpa Pinto, Palácio Presidencial located at Rua Pedro Álvares Cabral and Our Lady of Grace Cathedral.

Each year in February or March before Lent, the Praia Carnival takes place on the avenue, one of the streets that are included, the other being Avenida Cidade de Lisboa.

In 2014, renovations have been made in the southern portion at Rua Pedro Álvares Cabral next to the avenue which lasted until late 2015. A parking lot at the end of the avenue was transformed into a square, Praça de Diogo Gomes or Miradouro.
