Aurivirus (syn. Haliotivirus) is a genus of viruses in the order Herpesvirales, in the family Malacoherpesviridae. Haliotidae molluscs serve as natural hosts. There is currently only one species in this genus: the type species Haliotid herpesvirus 1. Diseases associated with this genus include: acute ganglioneuritis.[1][2]
Taxonomy
Group: dsDNA
Order: Herpesvirales
- Family: Malacoherpesviridae
- Genus: Aurivirus
- Haliotid herpesvirus 1
Structure
Viruses in Aurivirus are enveloped, with spherical to pleomorphic geometries, and T=16 symmetry. The diameter is around 150 nm. Genomes are linear and non-segmented, around 212kb in length.[1]
Genus | Structure | Symmetry | Capsid | Genomic arrangement | Genomic segmentation |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Aurivirus | Spherical Pleomorphic | T=16 | Enveloped | Linear | Monopartite |
Life cycle
Viral replication is nuclear. DNA-templated transcription is the method of transcription. Haliotidae molluscs serve as the natural host.[1]
