Association of Residential Letting Agents
The Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) is a professional body for individuals working in residential property lettings and management in the United Kingdom.
ARLA was formed in 1981[1] and grew particularly as the private rented sector grew over the past 10 years. It a professional and regulatory body solely concerned with residential letting agents in the UK and is a part of the National Federation of Property Professionals (NFOPP).
Membership
ARLA has c. 3,500 member offices throughout the UK ranging from small individual business to companies with a number of branches throughout the country. Membership is achieved only by agents who demonstrate that they have a thorough knowledge of their profession and that they conduct their business according to current best management practice. Members of ARLA must follow a Code of Conduct.[2]
Complaints/Discipline
The Association has its own complaints and disciplinary procedures so that any dispute is dealt with efficiently and fairly. Where necessary, suitable sanctions are imposed on the member.
