Asad Qiasar Khan (Arabic: اسد قیصر خان ) is the 14th and current Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. As a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, he was elected as member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from Swabi District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.Asad Qaisar is one of the founding and prominent workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in KPK.He is also the current president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter.[1][2][3]

Early life

Asad Qaiser was born on 15 November 1969 in Swabi District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He belongs to a very respected family of the Gujjar Tribe in the village of Marghuz, Swabi District. He received his early education from Government higher secondary school in Marghuz, and later graduated from University of Peshawar.He started his career as educationist and founded Quaid-e-Azam public school in the town of kinn, Swabi District.[4] Through the school he formed associations with the prominent figures of the area through the students in this institute being the principal and founder of that institute.[5][6]

Political career

Prior to joining PTI, Asad Qaiser was an active member of Jamaat-e-Islami's student wing.He joined PTI in 1996 and began his career in PTI as a worker and rose to the rank of district president of Swabi.He was initially appointed as the provincial President of PTI in 2008;the office he held till 2011 when the provincial leadership was dissolved by chairman PTI Imran Khan prior to the Intra-Party elections.In March 2013, he swept the Intra Party elections by defeating Parvez Khattak by 14 votes.[7] In the 2013 general elections he stood from NA-13 SWABI-II and PK-35 SWABI-V where he was elected as legislator from both but he held on to PK-35 SWABI-V constituency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly by 2600 votes against his candidate from PML-N, and then got elected by the provincial assembly, as Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
