Argiope (mythology)
In Greek mythology, Argiope (Ancient Greek: Αργιόπη "silver face") may refer to:
- Argiope, a Naiad, a daughter of the River God Nile. She was wife of Agenor and mother of Europa, Phoenix, Cilix and Cadmus.[1] More commonly known as Telephassa.
- Argiope, a Naiad of mount Parnassus, possibly the daughter of the river-god Cephissus, mother of Thamyris by Philammon.[2]
- Argiope, a Naiad of the town of Eleusis, possibly the daughter of the river-god Cephissus, mother of Cercyon by Branchus.[3]
- Argiope, daughter of Teuthras, king of Teuthrania, a region near Mysia in Asia Minor. She married Telephus, son of Heracles.[4]
