Archaeosynthemis orientalis is a species of dragonfly of the family Synthemistidae,[2] commonly known as the eastern brown tigertail.[3] It is a medium-sized dragonfly with reddish-brown and yellow markings.[3] It inhabits boggy creeks and swamps in eastern Australia[4][5]

Archaeosynthemis orientalis appears similar to Archaeosynthemis occidentalis found in Western Australia.[3]
