Arcangelo (ensemble)
Arcangelo is a UK-based early music ensemble founded by Jonathan Cohen in 2010.[1] It performs and records music from the Baroque and Classical repertoire, ranging from Monteverdi to Beethoven. It is noted for its approach based on the collaborative tradition of chamber music making.
Its cast varies in size, from small instrumental repertoire of 4 musicians to large choral works of over 50 such as Johann Sebastian Bach's Mass in B Minor.[2]
Performances and tours have included appearances at Wigmore Hall,[3] Aldeburgh Festival,[4] Edinburgh Festival,[5] BBC Proms,[6] The Globe's Sam Wanamaker Playhouse,[7] Hampton Court Palace,[8] Tetbury Music Festival,[9] Carnegie Hall,[10] Salzburg Festival,[11] Musikverein Vienna[12] and Berliner Philharmonie.[13]
It was the first ever Baroque Ensemble in Residence at Wigmore Hall in the 16-17 concert season[14]

Arcangelo has performed with soloists including Iestyn Davies MBE (counter tenor),[15] Christiane Karg (soprano),[16] Matthew Rose (bass),[17] Vilde Frang (violin),[18] Alina Ibragimova (violin),[19] Tim Mead (counter tenor),[20] Nicolas Altstaedt (cello),[21] Christopher Purves (baritone),[22] Anna Prohaska (soprano)[23], and Louise Alder (soprano)
Its ranks are cast from both the UK and continental Europe, and include young emerging musicians who are invited to the group as part of their artistic and career development.
