The Company was formed in 1956 in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as a pan-Arab business venture and it has a 100-year concession (1958-2058) from the government of Jordan that grants it exclusive rights to extract, manufacture and market minerals from the Dead Sea. It is headquartered in Amman and has its main plants at Ghor Al Safi. The company's stock is listed on the Amman Stock Exchange's ASE Weighted Index.

Operations

The site of Arab Potash Company (APC) is located 110 kilometers south of Amman and 200 kilometers north of Aqaba. The site is basically a Solar Evaporation Ponds System of an area of 112 km2 and processing plants. APC produces four grades of potash: standard, fine, granular and industrial grade potash through the following process:

Workplace safety Is considered APC's first priority, and the Management takes pride in having set a new record in 2015 by completing 5 million working hours without lost-time injury, meaning work-related injuries that require the injured person to take leave of absence for treatment. This achievement places APC at the forefront of industrial enterprises in the region in terms of workplace safety.

Labor relations APC is one of the leading companies in Jordan in terms of salaries and employee benefits, and the management enjoys positive relations with the General Union of Workers in Mining and Metallurgy of Jordan. Recently, APC also updated its HR regulations and procedures which, coupled with APC's continuous training programs, raised efficiency and productivity over the past two years.

Community relations In the period 2012 - 2015, APC spent an average of about JD 9 million (US $12.7 M) annually on development projects with a focus on the sectors of education and higher education, health, water and environment, and the fight against poverty. APC also runs professional training programs to upgrade the skills of young people in local communities and help them find employment both in APC and outside it. Most notable of these programs is the 'Caliber Trainee Program' to train new graduates from various technical disciplines, especially in the areas of APC's activity. The program gives them technical and practical qualifications and equips them with the necessary experience to engage in the labor market and to cover APC's future needs. Through this program APC contributes effectively to providing practical solutions for the unemployment problem and encourages students to enroll in vocational education according to labor market needs.

Markets

APC's principal export markets are India, China and Malaysia.
