Anuranjan Jha (born 1 March 1977) is an Indian Journalist who covers topics which deals with Indian politics, society, art & culture. He was the one who conducted several news programmes, shows for leading channels and most importantly some significant sting-operations including a sting against Aam Aadmi Party in Nov 2013. Jha, who also launched India's first matrimonial television channel, Shagun TV, is a sting specialist of sorts. His career in journalism spans 20 years. He has primarily been a reporter specializing in investigations. Before launching Shagun TV, Jha has worked with India TV Cobra Post, Zee News, Aaj Tak, BAG Films, India News and Jansatta, and was most recently chief operating officer (COO) of the news channel CNEB.[1]

Early life and education

Jha hails from a small village called Phulwaria, in the Motihari district of Bihar and belongs from a patriotic and writer's family. He is grandson of the most prominent author Ramesh Chandra Jha. He is graduated in History from University of Delhi and received a post-graduate diploma in Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication.

Career

He started his Journalism career with Print Media and worked with Indian Express and Jansatta as correspondent. At the age of 30 only Anuranjan Jha became an Editor and News Director of News channel India News. He is a cerebral man and has worked with companies like Zee news, Aaj Tak, BAG Films, India TV, India News, Cobra Post, Jansatta. He has worked with CNEB News Channel as COO. Then, he became Managing Director of well known Media company Vertent Media Soft Pvt. Ltd. The company has a full-fledged 24-hour lifestyle/entertainment TV channel called Shagun TV, India's first matrimonial channel.[2]

Anuranjan Jha founded Park Media Pvt Ltd. in the 2009 and started a News and Investigative Web Portal Media Sarkar.com in 2010. He is currently founder and CEO of Media Sarkar, which came into light after conducting a sting operation in which several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders such as its media faces Shazia Ilmi and Kumar Vishwas, were caught recovering money from individuals and getting the land deals done, agreed to extend their support in return for donations in cash. This sting operation created the huge panic and troubles in Aam Aadmi Party.[3] On 22nd Nov 2013,the website crashed after receiving its heaviest traffic ever.

He has been writing features, articles, columns on different social and political issues in many national newspapers, magazines and journals.

Media Sarkar

Media Sarkar Dot Com is a web portal which is popularly known for conducting one of the biggest and controversial sting operation against Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi. The AAP sting was the Media Sarkar's first investigation since inception. Anuranjan Jha was associated with Anna Hazare since the 13-day movement in 2011,and had high hopes from the AAP when it was launched. But over the time it goes down, people within the party informed him of problems, and he conducted the investigation.[5]

Bhor Trust

Many people are not aware that Mr. Jha is a social activist and has done lots of work in the field of Health and Education for rural people of Bihar. He has established BHOR Charitable Trust for helping rural people in many ways. On 04 and 5 March 2016 on the occasion of completing 200 years of Treaty of Sugauli, Sugauli Sandhi Samaroh 2016 and Bhor Literature Festival was successfully organised Mr. Jha and his Bhor Trust.

In this festival an important historical book about Sugauli and its past, Swadheenta Samar Mein Sugauli, was launched. The event was held at the historical ground and places of Sugauli, Champaran. Even Bhor has started giving awards to writer and journalist from the same year. The first Ramesh Chandra Jha Smriti Samman for writer was given to Vibhuti Narain Rai and Pankaj Singh Smriti Samman for journalist was given to Abhiranjan Kumar. BHOR Achievers Award for Achievers of different field who belongs from Sugauli region were distributed to many talented youth.[6]

Bhor Charitable Trust conducted 2nd Bhor Literature Festival 2017 on the occasion of 100 Years of Champaran Satyagrah. This event was held at historical Phulwaria village of Champaran on 15-16 April 2017, during the festival 2nd Ramesh Chandra Jha Smriti Samman was given to Laxmi Shankar Bajpai. and 2nd Pankaj Singh Smriti Samman for journalist was given to Rana Yashwant (Managing Editor, India News ) Bhor has Started Guruvar Dinesh Chandra Jha Bhor Rural olympiad. BRO for rural school children. In the year 2017 it has given to 12 students of Champaran region.
