Anton Aloys Wolf was a Prince-Bishop of Laibach (Ljubljana) during the 19th century.
Biography
After studying theology in Ljubljana, Anton Wolf was ordained on September 2, 1804 as a deacon . On December 15, 1804 he was ordained to the priest. In 1807, he became the chancellor of the diocese, and in 1814 - the canon of the cathedral of St. Nicholas.
On 27th February 1824 the Austrian authorities chose Antona Wolf at the Department of the Ljubljana diocese. On July 12, 1824 Pope Leo XII approved the appointment of Aloiziya Wolf- invariant. On 2 October 1824 the ordination of Anton Wolf as Bishop took place.
During his management Anton Wolff studied the reorganization of the Ljubljana diocese. Initiated and financed the publication of a new translation of the Bible in the Slovenian language (1863), German grammar(1860) and the Slovenian-German dictionary.
He died on February 7, 1859 in Ljubljana.
