Antifa (U.S.)
Antifa, also called Antifascist Action, is a loosely-affiliated 21st century American political movement of far-left activists opposed to fascism.
History
Peter Beinart, writing in The Atlantic, describes these groups as having roots in the Anti-Racist Action network of the 1990s.[1]
Activity
Antifa is a far-left political movement, not an formal organization.[2][1] Activists organize protests via social media and through websites and listserves.[2][1]
Antifa groups have protested the 2016 election of Donald Trump.[1][3][4]
Antifa protestors may use black bloc tactics, and have been involved in violent events such as the 2017 Berkeley protests.[2]
