Anthony Ramos Martinez[2] (born November 1, 1991) is an American actor. In 2015, he originated the roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton, Alexander Hamilton's eldest son, in the Broadway musical Hamilton. Prior to that, he originated the role of Justin Laboy in Lin-Manuel Miranda's short musical 21 Chump Street. He has been cast in the upcoming comedy-drama series She's Gotta Have It as Mars Blackmon.[3]
Early life and education
Ramos was born Anthony Ramos Martinez, and is of Puerto Rican descent.[4] He grew up in Bushwick, Brooklyn where he lived with his mother, older brother, and younger sister.[5][6]
Ramos attended Halsey Junior High School and sang Motown songs at school assemblies in a student group called the Halsey Trio.[6] In 2009, he graduated from New Utrecht High School.[6]
Ramos attended the musical theatre program at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy on a full scholarship,[6] from which he graduated in 2011.[2][6]

Personal life
Ramos has been in a relationship with fellow Hamilton original cast member Jasmine Cephas Jones, that began when they met during rehearsals for the Off-Broadway production at The Public Theater.[8]
