Anthony Abbott (author)

Anthony S. Abbott (born January 7, 1935) is an American author, poet, and Professor emeritus of English and former Chair of the English Department at Davidson College. His publications include Leaving Maggie Hope, the Girl in the Yellow Raincoat, and If Words Could Save Us.^[1] In 2015, he was awarded the North Carolina Award in literature.^[2]

Abbott was educated at Fay School, Kent School, and Princeton University; he documented his experiences at Fay School and Kent School in his books Leaving Maggie Hope and The Three Great Secret Things, respectively. In the former, Fay School is thinly veiled as Lowell School. His book, The Girl in the Yellow Raincoat was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.^[3]
