Annie Brittain
Annie Brittain (ca. 1930) most well known as Mrs. Brittain was a British clairvoyant medium.
Brittain was most famously endorsed by Arthur Conan Doyle who described her as his favourite medium. However, magician Harry Houdini who attended a séance on Doyle's request described her mediumship as ridiculous and unconvincing.[1] In a notable incident Brittain made entirely incorrect guesses about a policeman who was disguised as a farmer. She was arrested and convicted for fraudulent fortune telling.[2] She had also been convicted and fined on another occasion.[3] Despite the convictions of fraud, spiritualists such as Doyle and Oliver Lodge defended the medium.[2][4]
