Angelas Dish is an Australian indie pop band from the Central Coast of New South Wales, formed in 2004. The four-piece currently consists of songwriting duo, brothers Michael and Joshua Harris, teamed up with bassist Peter Clarke and drummer Christopher Allison. They have released three EPs and one studio album in their five-year career.[2]

History

Signing to Boomtown

Following their formation in 2004, Angelas Dish were quick to find a label, only one year later they signed to Boomtown Records for the release of their debut EP, Lie Die. The EP received a positive reception and led to a follow up in 2006 entitled My Body Is An Ashtray. During the release and promotion of these two EPs, the band toured with better known Australian bands, such as Gyroscope, Something With Numbers, After the Fall, Kisschasy and The Butterfly Effect. As well as supporting popular international acts such as Jimmy Eat World, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Anberlin and Copeland. On top of this, Angelas Dish managed to squeeze in four headline tours, all in their short existence.[2]

Moving to BNM

After the release of My Body Is An Ashtray, Angelas Dish made the decision to move from Boomtown Records to BNM Records, along with Sony BMG distribution, to record their first full-length studio album. On 27 October 2007, Angelas Dish released an EP titled Soft November, which featured the lead single off their upcoming album, "Soft November". The EP featured two other songs "Wear What You Wear" and "The Blind Girl", as well as the music video for the title track and behind the scenes footage of the music video.[3] The "Soft November" video clip was directed by Tim Stobart, who has formerly worked with INXS. The film clip went on to have over 1 Million plays on the MySpace website. During this time they toured with the Soundwave, Pushover, Bay Beats (Singapore) and other premier Festivals.

War on Time

In 2007, the band geared up for the recording and producing of their first studio album. It was recorded in Malt and Mangrove Studios on the Central Coast of NSW, with ARIA 'Producer of the Year' David Nicholas, alongside American producer Mark Needham, who has been attributed to The Killers, Thirsty Merc and My Chemical Romance.[2]

On 8 March 2008 the band released their debut album War on Time and toured extensively promoting the release with both Australian and International artists.

Boomtown retrospective

In January 2009 it was announced that Angelas Dish's former record label, Boomtown Records, would be releasing a retrospective CD including the band's older material. The compilation album titled Step Up features 18 tracks, incorporating three out of print releases from before their debut album, the Lie Die, My Body Is An Ashtray and self-titled EPs, along with two previously unreleased tracks. It was released on 24 January 2009, via Boomtown Records and Shock Distribution.[4]

Walk Into The Sky

During the winter of 2010 Angelas Dish paid for and recorded the album with good friend and producer Sonny Truelove. The album was mixed by Sonny Truelove and Michael 'Elvis' Baskette. The lead single 'Crash' had a music video made and has since become a 'late bloomer' after being re-released in Europe in January 2012. The European release was successful allowing the band to be featured in Virgin Radio's top 100.

Me And You

After a feuding year with their management and label Josh Harris entered the studio on his own to record the next release. What transpired was an acoustic/electro driven record which was self-financed and released by the band.

Leaving BNM and Melodic Management

After a frustrating 5 years with the management and record group the band's contract had expired.

Recording with Michael 'Elvis' Baskette

Angelas Dish are currently in the middle of recording their 3rd Album with Michael 'Elvis' Baskette and Sonny Truelove.
