Andrew Michael Knapp (born November 9, 1991) is an American professional baseball catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Career

Knapp was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 41st round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft out of Granite Bay High School in Granite Bay, California. He did not sign with the Athletics and attended the University of California, Berkeley to play college baseball.

Knapp was then drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the second round of the 2013 MLB Draft. He signed with the Phillies and made his professional debut with the Williamsport Crosscutters where he posted a .253 batting average. He spent 2014 with the Lakewood BlueClaws and Clearwater Threshers [1] where he batted .260 with 6 home runs and 32 RBI's. Knapp started 2015 with Clearwater and was promoted to the Double-A Reading Fightin Phils during the season,[2][3] where he posted a combined .308 batting average, 13 home runs and 84 RBIs between the two teams. Knapp spent 2016 with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs where he batted .266 with 8 home runs with 46 RBIs.[4]

The Phillies added him to their 40-man roster after the 2016 season.[5] Knapp made the Phillies' 2017 Opening Day roster.[6]
