Andor Szanyi is a Hungarian weightlifter who competed for Hungary.He won the gold medal at the 1985 World Weightlifting Championships in Södertalje in Sweden in the 100 kg category. He also won bronze medals at the next two world championships in 1986 Sofia and 1987 Ostrava respectively. European Champion in 1987 and bronze medalist in 1985,1988 and 1991.He won the Silver medal in 1988 Summer Olympics but was disqualified after he tested positive for stanozolol after a doping test. He was second another Hungarian weightlifter after Kalman Csengeri tested positive for testosterone .[2][3][4]
