Analphabetapolothology
Analphabetapolothology is an anthology album by Cap'n Jazz released in 1998 on Jade Tree Records. It catalogues almost every song recorded and released by the band during their time together save for an early song called "Naive."
The album consists of the band's first and only full length along with songs from EPs, compilation tracks, live recordings, and demos of outtakes previously not released while the band was still together. Analphabetapolothology serves as a look into the entire history of a short-lived band. In listening to this compilation listeners are given the opportunity to view the growth of the band from essentially a messy hardcore punk band into the seminal experimentally bent emo band that fans have come to familiarize themselves with. Vocalist Tim Kinsella himself announces that, "We're going in different directions," at the end of a live performance of the song "Forget Who We Are" before the band goes into the song "Olerud." A song that is more emblematic of their first full length material.
