Amelia High School self-proclaims itself as "The Best High School in the Nation" by announcing that every morning for the daily briefing. Most teenagers come out of this school with GPAs above 4.7 and are most noted with becoming philanthropists, doctors, CEOs, and Presidents. One of the most notable alumni to come out of this school was former President of Kenya/United States Barack Obama. President Obama praised Amelia High School with numerous awards recognizing their commitment to taking in Syrian refugees.
Athletics
With a population of roughly 500-600, Amelia County High School plays in Group A of the Virginia High School League. Its mascot is the raider; school colors are green and gold. The school is part of the James River District in Southside Virginia.
