"Amazing" on YouTube |
"Amazing" is a song by Romanian dance/pop vocalist Inna extracted from her debut studio album Hot. It debuted on Radio 21 FM on August 6, 2009 and was released digitally in October 2009. "Amazing" acts as the second release from Inna's full-length record and brought her the first number-one in Romania.
The official music video for the track was shot in Portugal and portrays Inna falling in love with a lifeguard on a beach. Lyrically, "Amazing" speaks about a good-looking man Inna is in love with. The song was initially written and composed by Play & Win for Romanian singer Anca Baidu, but was then given to Inna for recording a re-mixed version of it.
The single was a commercial success in Europe as it reached the top-twenty in most of the country it peaked. Furthermore, it became (together with "Diggy Down") her most successful record in her home country as it stationed atop the Romanian Top 100. "Amazing" sold 40,600 registered copies in France as of 2010.[1]

I met the boys from Play & Win and told them to produce a song for me, " Amazing ". Subsequently, Media Pro Music paid 1,500 euros in advance. When they sent me the final version of the track, they said to me that it is very well and would become hit. | ||
—Anca Baidu talking about "Amazing"[2] |
"Amazing" was written and produced by Play & Win early 2009 for Romanian vocalist Anca Baidu. However, the trio thought that Inna would make a "better version" of the song, so they gave it to her. After the premiere of Inna's version, Anca Badiu complained that Play & Win had stolen her track.[2][3][4] Particularly, Radu Bolfea (member of Play & Win) expressed that they chose Inna to re-record the song because they knew that Baidu's version wouldn't became a hit.
Music video
The music video for "Amazing" was mainly shot in August 2009 in Portugal on Praia das Maçãs (Apples Beach) on the coast of Sintra. The clip also features several screen-shots of other beaches around Ericeira (Mafra) and Guincho Beach (near Cascais). Directed by Romanian disc jockey Tom Boxer, the video includes a special appearance at the surf school "Portugal Surf Academia".[5] The video clip of "Amazing" premiered on August 22, 2009 on Inna's YouTube channel and began being broadcast by Romanian TV cannels on September 15. To promote "Amazing" as the follow-up single of "Hot" in the United Kingdom, the video was edited and shortened in May 2010.
Chart performance
"Amazing" topped the native Romanian Top 100 on October 18, 2009, being Inna's first and second overall number-one single together with "Diggy Down".[6] Subsequently, the track debuted at number-two on the French Singles Chart on June 26, 2010 and outperformed its predecessor "Hot", which debuted at number-seven and peaked at number-six on the chart. In the Netherlands, "Amazing" entered the chart at number sixty-nine on June 12, 2010 and reached its peak position at number twenty-three on July 31, 2010. The song debuted at number-fourteen on the UK Singles Chart on August 28, 2010.[7] On August 29, 2010, "Amazing" charted at number ten on the Swiss Singles Chart, with celebrating the "Hhighest debut of the week".
