Alton Square Mall

The Alton Square Mall is a 2-level 634,181 square-foot enclosed shopping mall located in Alton, Illinois.[1][2] Its anchors are Ross Dress for Less and J. C. Penney.[3] Sears was a third anchor, but closed in 2012. Macy's was a second anchor until it closed in 2017. The old Sears site was made into a Illinois Wholesale Furniture which later also closed.[3] It also has a post office.[1]

In 2009, a 10-screen Premiere Cinemas theater was announced for the mall.[4]. In 2006 the name changed to Macy's from Famous Barr. In 2015, a Ross Dress For Less store was added to the mall, and a Hibbett Sports was also added. Also during March,Family Christian Stores, the largest family owned Christian Store closed. Another thing in March was that they announced they would redevelop the mall. The old Sears site would be made into a movie theater and they would knock down the old Macys site and redevelop it. They also wanted to take all the small stores from the second level and move them down to the first level so they could have room for 5 anchor stores. In May 2017, the mall announced that Hallmark and Things Remembered would both be closing their locations inside the mall.
