Alkeyevsky District (Russian: Альке́евский райо́н; Tatar: Cyrillic Әлки районы, Latin Əlki rayonı) is an administrative[1] and municipal[3] district (raion), one of the forty-three in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. It is located in the south of the republic. The area of the district is 1,726.8 square kilometers (666.7 sq mi).[4] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Bazarnye Mataki.[2] Population: 19,991(2010 Census);[5] 22,059 (2002 Census);[8] 23,031(1989 Census).[9] The population of Bazarnye Mataki accounts for 29.5% of the district's total population.[5]
