Al-Ittihad Sport, Cultural & Social Club (Arabic: نادي الاتحاد الرياضي الثقافي الاجتماعي) known as Al-Ittihad Tripoli is a Libyan football club based in Bab Ben Gashier, Tripoli, Libya. They have won the Libyan Premier League sixteen times, the Libyan Cup six times and the Libyan SuperCup ten times.

Alittihad became the first Libyan club to qualify for the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League in 2007, where they lost to eventual runners-up Al-Ahly of Egypt (1–0) on aggregate. They also reached the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2010.

History

Al-Ittihad Club was founded on Saturday July 29, 1944 after a merger between three clubs " العمال -al-Ummal", "Al Nahda & Al Shabab, Mohamed Al-Krewi (Arabic: محمد الكريو) was the founder and first president.[1]

Old Crest

The crest pictured here is the old crest that was in use. The current one (pictured at the top of the page) replaced the old one in 2003 (a star was added) after the club's 10th league title.

Stadium

Alittihad play their home games at the Tripoli Stadium, 6 km from center of Tripoli. They share the 80,000 capacity ground with Al-Ahly Tripoli and Al Madina. The club owns the 5,000 capacity Al Mala'b Al Baladi (Arabic: الملعب البلدي). Located in central Tripoli, the ground is now used for training.
