Alfred Andrew Schlert (born July 24,1961) is an American priest of the Catholic Church who has been named to serve as bishop of the Diocese of Allentown.
Biography
Bishop-elect Schlert was born in Easton, Pennsylvania July 24, 1961. He was ordained a priest on September 19, 1987. Pope John Paul II named him Chaplain to His Holiness with the title of Monsignor in 1999. Pope Benedict named him a Prelate of Honor, the second highest rank of Monsignor, in 2005. Pope Francis appointed Schlert bishop for the Diocese of Allentown on June 27, 2017.[1][2] His ordination and installation is scheduled for August 31, 2017.
