Alfaisal University is a private, nonprofit, research institute of higher education located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.[2]

Founded in 2002 by the King Faisal Foundation as a nonprofit student-centered university, Alfaisal University opened its doors and admitted its first 80 students in 2008. In just a few short years, Alfaisal's total enrollment now exceeds 2500. The enrollment is 67% Saudi National with the remaining 33% being students from over 40 other nations. The total number of faculty is nearly 200 with international faculty from 31 countries. Alfaisal University aspires to provide students with a world-class, valuable, rigorous, experiential and technology-infused education. To that end, faculty and administration have the unwavering support of the founders, the King Faisal Foundation, and the governing Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees includes representatives from five firms, four international firms, and a representative from the Ministry of Education.

In October 2016, Alfaisal received full-accreditation from the National Commission for Academic Assessment and Accreditation until 30 April 2023. According to the 2016 U.S. News and World Report, Alfaisal University received a ranking of 12th overall out of 125 universities reviewed for academic excellence. For the Kingdom, Alfaisal received a ranking of 5th overall; for private universities, Alfaisal received a 1st place ranking.

Additionally, the U.S. News & World Report ranked Alfaisal’s College of Medicine 5th overall in the Arab Region and 3rd in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Other notable achievements include:

- The 2016 Times Higher Education ranked Alfaisal University 4th overall in the Kingdom.

- According to the 2015 QS Rankings for the Arab Region Alfaisal University has continued to maintain its 1st place ranking for the second consecutive year in number of citations per scientific paper.

- Alfaisal moved up from 8th to 5th overall in the Arab Region for citations; the 2016 Nature Index has Alfaisal ranked 3rd and 5th for national and regional collaborations respectively.
