Alexander Laing "Alex" Halkett (25 September 1881 – 21 February 1917), sometimes known as Ecky Halkett or Alick Halkett,[2] was a Scottish professional football right half who played in the Scottish League for Aberdeen, Dundee and St Johnstone.[3]

Personal life

Halkett worked as a wheelwright and his older brother John was also a footballer.[4] Halkett served as a gunner in the Royal Field Artillery during the First World War and was killed in action in Pas-de-Calais, France on 21 February 1917.[3][4] He was buried in Sailly-au-Bois Military Cemetery.[5]
