Alex Cameron (artist)

Alex Cameron (born 1947) is a visual artist in Toronto, Ontario.[1] Cameron worked as a studio assistant to Jack Bush from 1972 to 1976.[2] Bush is said to have influenced Cameron's "lyrical semi-abstract painting style"[3]. Further inspired by the works of Group of Seven and Painters Eleven[4], Cameron's paintings primarily feature brightly colored, abstracted landscapes. He paints by "squeezing paint out of tubes in finger-width squiggles, dashes and dots"[5].In the early 80's Cameron's style developed into the "long horizontal or vertical lines of colour punctuated by curves, squiggles and free hand geometry" that are still present in his work today[6]. All of Cameron's titles are invented after the work is completed[7].
