Alexander "Alex" Barrie (18 August 1878 – 1 October 1918), sometimes known as Alec Barrie, was a Scottish professional football centre half who played for Kilmarnock, Rangers and St Bernard's in the Scottish Football League.[3][4] He also played in the Football League for Sunderland.[1]

Personal life

Barrie served as a corporal in the Highland Light Infantry during the First World War and was killed in France on 1 October 1918, just over five weeks before the armistice.[5] He was buried in Flesquières Hill British Cemetery.[2]
