Albrecht Dürer the Elder (German: Albrecht Dürer der Ältere, often abbreviated Albrecht Dürer d. Ä.; ca. 1427 in Ajtós, near Gyula in Hungary – before 20 September 1502, Nuremberg), born as "Ajtossy"[1] or "Ajtósi",[2] was a Hungarian goldsmith in Nuremberg and the father of the Northern Renaissance painter Albrecht Dürer.
