Alan Rhodes is a professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s, and 1970s, playing at club level for Bradford Northern, Huddersfield, Featherstone Rovers (Heritage № 482), and York, as a centre, prop, or second-row, i.e. number 3 or 4, 8 or 10, or, 11 or 12, during the era of contested scrums.

Playing career

Alan Rhodes made his début for Featherstone Rovers on Saturday 2 March 1968,[1] he appears to have scored no drop-goals (or field-goals as they are currently known in Australasia), but prior to the 1974–75 season all goals, whether; conversions, penalties, or drop-goals, scored 2-points, consequently prior to this date drop-goals were often not explicitly documented, therefore '0' drop-goals may indicate drop-goals not recorded, rather than no drop-goals scored.

Challenge Cup Final appearances

Alan Rhodes played left-second-row, i.e. number 11, (replaced by interchange/substitute № 15 Barry Hollis) in Featherstone Rovers' 33-14 victory over Bradford Northern in the 1973 Challenge Cup Final during the 1972–73 season at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday 12 May 1973, in front of a crowd of 72,395, and played left-second-row (replaced by interchange/substitute № 14 David Busfield) in the 9-24 defeat by Warrington in the 1974 Challenge Cup Final during the 1973–74 season at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday 11 May 1974, in front of a crowd of 77,400.

County Cup Final appearances

Alan Rhodes played left-centre, i.e. number 4, in Bradford Northern's 8-17 victory over Hunslet in the 1965 Yorkshire County Cup Final during the 1965–66 season at Headingley Rugby Stadium, Leeds on Saturday 16 October 1965, played left-second-row, i.e. number 11, in Featherstone Rovers' 7-23 defeat by Leeds in the 1970 Yorkshire County Cup Final during the 1970–71 season at Odsal Stadium, Bradford on Saturday 21 November 1970, and played left-second-row in York's 8-18 defeat by Bradford Northern in the 1978 Yorkshire County Cup Final during the 1978–79 season at Headingley Rugby Stadium, Leeds on Saturday 28 October 1978.
