Alan Becker (born 1989) is an animator from Dublin, Ohio who is best known for creating the "Animator vs. Animation" series on Newgrounds and YouTube.[1]

Career

When he was 17 years old, Becker posted his first "Animator vs. Animation" video; the video instantly went viral.[2] The success of the video led him to create two more videos, "Animator vs. Animation II" and "Animator vs. Animation III" before making other videos. It was intended to be his last video and he "wanted to make sure that no sequel could come out of that". But he has stated that his animation teacher had inspired him to continue YouTube. In 2007, "Animator vs. Animation II" won a "People's Choice" Webby Award.[1] For his fourth video, "Animator vs. Animation IV", Becker raised over $11,000 dollars on Kickstarter.[2][3] Becker has recently created works related to the video game Minecraft such as the video "Animation vs. Minecraft"[4] and a world map based off the Studio Ghibli film My Neighbor Totoro.[5]

Becker also created a series of "how-to" videos regarding animation based off the "12 basic principles of animation".[6] The most popular on his channel is the video "Animator vs. Animation IV (original)", which has more than 75 million views.
