Al-Shorta is an Iraqi football club based in Baghdad, Iraq. The club's first match in a continental club competition was a 3–2 victory over Taj Club on 21 March 1971, and they have since participated in Asian and Arab club competitions on several occasions. Al-Shorta have won the Arab Champions League once, in 1982, and are also widely regarded as the winners of the AFC Champions League in 1971. They are one of just three Iraqi sides to win a major continental club competition alongside Al-Rasheed and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya.[1]

Al-Shorta's biggest winning margin in Asian competitions is by five goals; they thrashed Punjab Police 6–1 in the 1971 AFC Champions League and defeated Al-Wahda of Yemen 5–0 in the 1999–2000 AFC Champions League.[2]
