Adwoa Yamoah (born November 21, 1986) is a Ghanaian-Canadian beauty pageant contestant who placed 1st runner-up at Miss Universe Canada 2012[1] and represented Canada in the Miss Universe 2012 pageant after the winner Sahar Biniaz allegedly hurt her foot a few days before the pageant was about to start.

Early life

Born in Accra, Ghana, Adwoa immigrated to Canada at a very young age. She speaks English and Twi. She is from Calgary, Alberta.

She graduated from Mount Royal College and is currently working in promotions and marketing for Corus Radio, one of Canada’s largest media companies in the Calgary office. She was Calgary Stampeders Cheerleader (one of the youngest applicants) which led to her teaching dance professionally. Her career ambition is to open an Advertising Agency which focuses on interactive media.

Adwoa's interests include reading, music and spending time with her family and friends.[2]

Miss Universe Canada 2012 & Miss Universe

Yamoah participated in Miss Universe 2012,[3][4] was named "Best Runway Model",[5] while Sahar Biniaz became Miss Universe Canada 2012.[6] Biniaz was expected to represent Canada at Miss Universe 2012 in Las Vegas but a few days before the expected arrival she allegedly hurt her foot and because of that Adwoa Yamoah, the first runner-up,[7] got the opportunity to represent Canada. It has been confirmed recently however that Sahar Biniaz didn't compete because its believed she was actually over age. Biniaz still holds the title of Miss Universe Canada 2012 although she and the entire organization have been highly criticized.
