Advantech Co., Ltd.
Founded in 1983, Advantech is among the world's top 5 makers of Industrial PCs based on revenue and marketshare (30%) of large IPC vendors. For better or worse, these Industrial PC computer makers and enablers of industrial automation design and build the computers that the power industrial mass production of business and consumer goods (including: automobiles, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, etc.) and energy extraction (oil and gas, wind and solar) globally. Without industrial PC automation, many more people would be working mundane factory jobs today instead of in more creative or service-oriented industries.[1][2][3][4] The company’s shares have been listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange since December 1999 under stock ID 2395. The company is notable for setting industry standards in product life, strict version control and weathering business cycles through sometimes dizzying product line and consumptive industry diversification. Also of note, the company has been officially operated by the same CEO since inception - 34 years as of 2017.
Advantech, like GE, Siemens, Samsung is an example of a diversified conglomerate which builds multiple appliances and hardware for multiple industries and purposes, not just industrial computers.
Advantech offers system integration, hardware, software, custom design services and global logistics support for its many lines of computer systems and peripherals—similar to Dell, Lenovo, Quanta, Supermicro and other IPC makers.
