Accra Great Olympics is a Ghanaian professional football club based in Accra, Greater Accra. The club competed in the 2015/2016 Division One League(zone 3) and gained qualification to join the 2017 Premier League season. With Accra sports stadium now Ohene Djan sports stadium being the home ground for their matches, Accra Great Olympics is no doubt the football team with over 10 billion names to its credit. It is one of the oldest and traditional football teams in Ghana. They are popularly known as the wonder club of Ghana. It is not true that Olympics featured 13 players in an African Clubs Championship in Accra but rather 12 players and this was as a result of player substitution with the substituted player staying on the field unknown to the referee until the assistant referee drew his attention to it.At that time, the Apollo 13 space programme had successfully completed its mission to the moon and the episode was labelled as such (Apollo 13). Fascinated by the wonderful performance around that time, the late Mr. Ohene Djan conferred on them the accolade " The Wonder Club of Ghana[1] ".
