Acanthopelma is a genus of spiders in the family Theraphosidae (tarantulas).[1] It is the only genus in the Acanthopelminae subfamily. The genus has two species, Acanthopelma beccarii in Guyana and Acanthopelma rufescens in Central America.[1]
