ACE Team Software S.A., doing business as ACE Team, is an independent video game developer based in Santiago, Chile. The team was formed as ACE Team Software in 1997 by brothers Andrés Bordeu, Carlos Bordeu, and Edmundo Bordeu. They developed mods for various games until 2002, where they incorporated as ACE Team Software S.A. to start working on commercial titles.
History
ACE Team was formed in 1997, named after the initials of the three founders, Andrés Bordeu, Carlos Bordeu, and Edmundo Bordeu. Their first project was a total conversion of Doom II: Hell on Earth, titled Batman Doom, was released on 14 January 1999, and another, titled ZanZan, on 8 August 2001, and total conversion of Quake III Arena, titled The Dark Conjunction, on 12 February 2002.
In 2002, ACE Team incorporated as ACE Team Software S.A. and started work on a game titled Zenozoik using LithTech Jupiter.
In 2004, two key members of ACE Team, Andrés and Carlos, were hired by Wanako Studios to work with the company, and Zenozoik was dropped. When Wanako Studios was acquired by Sierra Online on 20 February 2007, Andrés and Carlos left the company to join Edmundo Bordeu and David Caloguerea, and reinstate ACE Team. Development on Zenozoik was picked up again and moved over to Source and became Zeno Clash, which was to be their first commercially released video game. In 2009, leading up to the release of Zeno Clash, ACE Team released the browser game The Malstrums Mansion as an April Fools' Day joke on 1 April 2009. Zeno Clash was released on 21 April 2009, and a sequel, Zeno Clash II, was released on 30 April 2013.
ACE Team's second commercial title is Rock of Ages, for which they partnered with Atlus to publish it. The game was released on 31 August 2011, and a sequel, Rock of Ages II: Bigger & Boulder was announced on 2 June 2016 for a release in Q3 2016.
After Zeno Clash II, ACE Team developed their fourth commercial title, Abyss Odyssey, which was released on 15 July 2014. Their fifth commercial title, The Deadly Tower of Monsters, was released on 19 January 2016, with ACE Team stating that they had another project in development. On 2 June 2016, this project was revealed to be Rock of Ages II.
