ABC Southern Queensland is an ABC Local Radio station based in Toowoomba broadcasting to the Darling Downs region of Queensland. This includes the towns of Warwick, Dalby, Kingaroy and Goondiwindi.
The station began broadcasting as 4QS in 1939. As well as a number of low power FM transmitters, the station broadcasts through the following main FM and AM transmitters:
- 4QS 747 AM
- 4QS/T 104.9 FM
Local Programs
Weekdays
- Breakfast with David Iliffe – 6:30 AM to 7:45 AM.
- Mornings with Belinda Sanders – 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM
For a number of years, a regional drive program was broadcast across Queensland between 4pm and 6pm from the ABC Southern Queensland studios, but it ceased production at the end of 2013. A drive program produced specifically for regional Queensland is now presented from a studio at 612 ABC Brisbane.
ABC Southern Queensland also broadcasts a rural affairs program called The Rural Report each morning between 6:15am and 6:30am. This is a shared program between ABC Southern Queensland and ABC Capricornia. It is simulcast on both stations and features content relevant to both regions. Presenting duties are rotated between both Toowoomba-based and Rockhampton-based rural reporters.
Saturday
- Saturday Breakfast with Dennis O’Hara – 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM
When local programs are not broadcast the station is a relay of ABC Capricornia and 612 ABC Brisbane.
