A19 motorway (Portugal)
The A 19 is a motorway in Portugal which, when finished, will link the main road N 1, south of Batalha, with the same N 1 north of Leiria, a distance of 16.4 km. This motorway was conceived as part of the complementary route IC 2 in order to provide an alternative route to the N 1 which passes close to the Batalha Monastery, causing problems to the building, and also to provide a bypass for Leiria, where the existing road capacity was insufficient.
The A 19 is partly a toll road; the section past Leiria is free because it took the path of the existing road.
