2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification Group B
Group B of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification tournament will be one of the 12 groups to decide the teams which qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals tournament. The group consists of four teams: Cameroon, Morocco, Malawi, and Comoros (winner of preliminary round).[1]
The teams play against each other in home-and-away round-robin format between June 2017 and November 2018.[2]
The group winner qualifies for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, while the runner-up also qualifies if they are among the three best runners-up. Even though Cameroon are the hosts of the final tournament and have already qualified automatically, all matches of the host team will count leading us to the three following possible scenarios:[3]
- If the host team is the winner of the group, the runner-up will automatically qualify to the final tournament. No other team will be eligible to qualify from this group.
- If the host team is the runner-up, only the winner of the group will qualify to the final tournament.
- If the host team is either in 3rd or 4th place, the winner of the group qualifies to the final tournament and the runner-up will be eligible to qualify as one of the best runners-up.
On 12 March 2017, the Football Association of Malawi announced their senior national football team would withdraw from the competition due to the lack of funding.[4] However, they later announced its reversal of this decision and would continue to compete.[5]
