2018 FIFA World Cup seeding

The draw for the 2018 FIFA World Cup will take place on December 1, 2017 at the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Russia.[1] It will determine the group in which the 32 qualified national teams will play in at the start of the tournament. The teams will be divided into four pots, which are based on seedings and geographic regions.

Seeding

Unless altered, seeding for the draw will be based on the October 2017 FIFA World Ranking standings, due to suitability for teams which will play play-off matches to qualify for the tournament in November. Russia will be seeded as they are the host nation, along with the top seven national teams of the standings.
