The 2017 VMI Keydets football team will represent the Virginia Military Institute in the 2017 NCAA Division I FCS football season. It will be VMI's 127th football season and the Keydets will be led by third-year head coach Scott Wachenheim. They will play their home games at 10,000–seat Alumni Memorial Field at Foster Stadium, as they have since 1962. This will be VMI's fourth season as a member of the Southern Conference, after playing for 11 seasons in the Big South Conference.
