2017 Scottish Women's Premier League

The 2017 Scottish Women's Premier League season is the 16th season of the Scottish Women's Premier League, the highest division of women's football in Scotland since its inception in 2002.

This is the second season since the Premier League was split into two division of eight teams each. Effectively reducing the top-level teams from 12 to 8. The change was made to increase competitiveness in the league.[1] The divisions are named SWPL 1 and SWPL 2. Switzerland pushed Scotland out of the top 12 associations in the UEFA coefficient ranking, so this season again only the champion qualifies to the Champions League.
