The 2017-18 BPL season, also known as BPL 5, is the fifth season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), will begin on November 2, 2017, with the defending champion, Dhaka Dynamites playing against Surma Sixers Sylhet in the first game at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The season will reintroduce a team based in Sylhet, named Surma Sixers Sylhet. The team will be under new ownership and management. Barisal Bulls were excluded from the tournament, after failing financial terms and conditions.[1]
Player draft
The 2017 BPL draft will be held on 16 September, 2017, where a team can purchase a minimum of 10 local players and a maximum of 13 local players. A new rule has been implemented whereby a team can include up to 5 overseas players in a match instead of 4.
Opening ceremony
The opening ceremony of the tournament will be held on 31 October, 2017. Indian singer Arijit Singh will be performing live on stage along with other local celebrities.

A total of 46 matches will be played in these venues with the final being held in Dhaka.
