UEFA Champions League Path

For the UEFA Champions League Path, the 32 teams are drawn into eight groups of four. There is no separate draw held, with the group compositions identical to the draw for the 2017–18 UEFA Champions League group stage, which will be held on 24 August 2017, 18:00 CEST, at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. In each group, teams play against each other home-and-away in a round-robin format. The eight group winners advance to the round of 16, while the eight runners-up advance to the play-offs, where they are joined by the eight second round winners from the Domestic Champions Path.

The matchdays are 12–13 September, 26–27 September, 17–18 October, 31 October – 1 November, 21–22 November, and 5–6 December 2017.

Domestic Champions Path

For the Domestic Champions Path, the 32 teams are drawn into two rounds of two-legged home-and-away ties. The draw will be held on 29 August 2017 at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. In both rounds, each tie is played over two legs, with each team playing one leg at home. The team that scores more goals on aggregate over the two legs advances to the next round. If the aggregate score is level, the away goals rule is applied, i.e., the team that scores more goals away from home over the two legs advances. If away goals are also equal, the match is decided by a penalty shoot-out (no extra time is played).[1]

The eight second round winners advance to the play-offs, where they are joined by the eight group runners-up from the UEFA Champions League Path.

First round

The first legs will be played on 27 September, and the second legs will be played on 18 October 2017.

Second round

The first legs will be played on 1 November, and the second legs will be played on 22 November 2017.

Play-offs

For the play-offs, the 16 teams are drawn into eight ties played over one match. The draw for the play-offs will be held on 11 December 2017 at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. The eight second round winners from the Domestic Champions Path are drawn against the eight group runners-up from the UEFA Champions League Path, with the teams from the Domestic Champions Path hosting the match. Teams from the same association cannot be drawn against each other.

The eight play-off winners advance to the round of 16, where they are joined by the eight group winners from the UEFA Champions League Path. If the scores are level after full-time, the match is decided by a penalty shoot-out (no extra time is played).[1]

The play-offs will be played on 6 and 7 February 2018.

Knockout phase

For the knockout phase (round of 16 onwards), the 16 teams are drawn into a single-elimination tournament, with all ties played over one match. The draw for the round of 16 onwards will be held on 9 February 2018 at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. The mechanism of the draws for each round is as follows:

If the scores are level after full-time, the match is decided by a penalty shoot-out (no extra time is played).[1]

Round of 16

The round of 16 matches will be played on 20 and 21 February 2018.

Quarter-finals

The quarter-finals will be played on 13 and 14 March 2018.

Semi-finals

The semi-finals will be played on 20 April 2018 at Colovray Stadium, Nyon.[47]

Final

The final will be played on 23 April 2018 at Colovray Stadium, Nyon.[47]
