The 2017–18 season is Sunderland's 138th season in existence, and their first season in the Championship since 2006.[1] Along with competing in the Championship, the club will also participate in the FA Cup and EFL Cup. The season covers the period from 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018. This will be the first season to feature Simon Grayson as club manager, following the departure of David Moyes in May 2017.
